NASA in Houston

Posted by: Above The Aether In: Uncategorized

Here’s an interesting photo of the Mission Control room of NASA in Houston, Texas. This room is no longer used to to monitor space shuttle missions and the international space station, however, we DID get a tour of the actual mission control with the help of Jason, who happens to work at NASA. It amazes me to see streaming video and vital statistics of the actual space station from geosynchronous orbit. It was very cool to see the night crew of aerospace & software engineer nerds in Hawaiian shirts and flip-flops (it’s very hot in Houston in the summer) monitoring the space station as it cruises at nearly 18,000mph around the globe.

Cool factor = 9.0

  • Dave: Not sure, Bryan, but I'd love to know where Craig lives.
  • Bryan Hanks: What city were those in?

  • epiphenita: Like Tom Waits without the music.

  • Dave: I think someone should make some dance music from those "WHOAHs."
  • epiphenita: Oh, Dave. That was tonic to my soul. Perfect. I vote for an exorcism.
  • Dave: Hmm, looks sober to me.
  • Scott: I'm thinking that the guy with the hat might have had a drink or two before this picture was taken. Just a hunch...
  • Scott: There's a roleplaying scenario just waiting to be written based on these pictures. :-)

Stepping over the steaming pile of reality. This is one man's journey into the absurd.
