When I think of it, I feel like Golum in Lord of the Rings. I’m not sure how I could live without it.
Justine got it for my birthday a few weeks ago and I’ve been downloading podcasts ever since. Podcasts are digital radio shows that people create and post online. You can […]

Justine donated 10 inches of her hair today to Locks of Love, a program that makes hairpieces for financially challenged children who have experienced hair loss due to medical reasons (cancer treatment, genetic disorders, etc).
The good folks at Ulta salon in Houston will cut your hair for free when you donate it to Locks of […]

I ate goat meat for the first time today.
I was talking with a co-worker of mine from India the other day and she mentioned that goat is quite commonly eaten in India (with beef being forbidden by the Hindu religion). I was intrigued by this, having never eaten goat before.
So yesterday she hands me […]

Justine here. This is but the first in my upcoming series of ongoing obsessions.
My love affair with Tab The All-Occasion Beverage began somewhere back in the mid-70s when I was put on my first diet. It’s sweet, vaguely orangey nectar filled my sugar-deprived, slightly starved childhood soul with sacchariney goodness and the promise of […]

Justine here. A little slow jam for the ladeeeez….. aw yeeah.
Shortly after moving to Houston I noticed that I was having extreme difficulty in combing my hair. I’m not talking about a little snarl here people– I’m talking about full-on rasta mini-dreadlocks at the back of my head. I’m talking about trying to comb […]

I’ve found my new favorite bourbon. It’s called Jefferson Reserve and it’s 90 proof and aged 12-17 years. It’s a small batch (only 2,400 bottles).
Smoooooth.

Want to know what the homes in your neighborhood are worth?
www.zillow.com
You can look at a birds-eye view of your street and see all the prices floating in the air above the house. This is pretty cool Ajax technology combined with some fancy google-like mapping wizardry.
The site uses the tax assessment value of the house, […]

Houston Police Chief, Harold Hurtt, wants to blanket the city of Houston with surveillance video cameras.
The Seattle PI picked up the story with an interesting quote:
HOUSTON — Houston’s police chief on Wednesday proposed placing surveillance cameras in apartment complexes, downtown streets, shopping malls and even private homes to fight crime during a shortage of police […]

Justine and I saw an odd sign near a Belgian restaurant we like just off of Montrose & Westheimer several months ago. The sign said “Knitting, please” and then listed a web address (see photo above).
The Houston Press and the Houston Chronicle have just written stories about this group of knitting graffiti artists.

I know. […]
