I ate goat meat for the first time today. I was talking with a co-worker of mine from India the other day and she mentioned that goat is quite commonly eaten in India (with beef being forbidden by the Hindu religion). I was intrigued by this, having never eaten goat before. So yesterday she hands […]

I’ve found my new favorite bourbon. It’s called Jefferson Reserve and it’s 90 proof and aged 12-17 years. It’s a small batch (only 2,400 bottles). Smoooooth. -Dave

Real estate prices…

Posted by: Above The Aether In: Uncategorized

Want to know what the homes in your neighborhood are worth? www.zillow.com You can look at a birds-eye view of your street and see all the prices floating in the air above the house. This is pretty cool Ajax technology combined with some fancy google-like mapping wizardry. The site uses the tax assessment value of […]

The Hurtt Prize

Posted by: Above The Aether In: Uncategorized

Houston Police Chief, Harold Hurtt, wants to blanket the city of Houston with surveillance video cameras. The Seattle PI picked up the story with an interesting quote: HOUSTON — Houston’s police chief on Wednesday proposed placing surveillance cameras in apartment complexes, downtown streets, shopping malls and even private homes to fight crime during a shortage […]

Roses of Muhammad – Iran’s freedom fries

Posted by: Above The Aether In: Uncategorized

In a motion of unparalleled flattery to the United States, Iran has renamed the danish pastry to “roses of Muhammad” in protest of the Danish cartoon depicting the prophet Muhammad. I think this is Iran’s way of saying “America, we like the way you handled those pesky Frenchmen by renaming your french fries. We shall […]

Cheney – the hunter

Posted by: Above The Aether In: Uncategorized

I don’t think it’s much of a story that our Vice President shot someone while hunting. That sort of thing happens all the time in the south (especially in Bourbon Season). Although I do think it was inappropriate for him to skin and mount the poor man over his mantle. That was really pushing the […]

Muhammad cartoon fiasco – Part 3

Posted by: Above The Aether In: Uncategorized

Anyone know any good holocaust jokes? From the Jerusalem Post… “Iran’s biggest-selling newspaper has chosen to tackle the West’s ideals of “freedom of expression” by launching a competition to find the 12 “best” cartoons about the Holocaust, the Associated French Press reported on Monday.” So, it looks like this Iranian newspaper is fighting cartoons with […]

  • Dave: I think someone should make some dance music from those "WHOAHs."
  • epiphenita: Oh, Dave. That was tonic to my soul. Perfect. I vote for an exorcism.
  • Dave: Hmm, looks sober to me.
  • Scott: I'm thinking that the guy with the hat might have had a drink or two before this picture was taken. Just a hunch...
  • Scott: There's a roleplaying scenario just waiting to be written based on these pictures. :-)

Stepping over the steaming pile of reality. This is one man's journey into the absurd.
