Where do we go from here?

A few weeks ago I printed out a blank map of the United States and Justine and I sat down with a black magic marker and began coloring in states that we both agreed we did not want to live in. The states that survived this coloring-book exercise would be the states that we would focus our search in the following year or so. Here is a list of the survivors in no particular order:

  • Washington
  • Oregon
  • California
  • Colorado
  • New Mexico
  • Minnesota
  • Illinois
  • North Carolina
  • Virginia
  • Pennsylvania
  • New York
  • Vermont
  • New Hampshire
  • Massachusetts
  • Maine
  • Alaska
  • Hawaii

The small map above is hanging on our fridge. We won’t start looking for another year or more, but it’s nice having some direction when we’re ready to pull the Texas ripcord.

Damn, that map looks familiar. Minus Virginia. I notice you have Alabama and Texas in black. Huh.
