Truck carrying peguins crashes in Texas

Posted by: Dave In: Current Affairs | Texas | Weird

From the Houston Chronicle:

A refrigerated truck full of penguins bound from the Indianapolis Zoo to Galveston overturned on U.S. 59 in East Texas early Tuesday, sending highway patrol and animal control officers scurrying to save the flightless birds.

“I have never petted a penguin until this morning,” said Department of Public Safety Trooper Richard Buchanan.

Hmmm, I’ve never tasted a bar-b-cued penguin either, Texas Trooper Buchanan pondered shortly after this.

File this story under strange things to happen in Texas.
