Ok.
We all buy our airline tickets online, right?
Because it’s cheap and easy, just like Hollywood.
But do you know when to buy your tickets? Have you ever wondered if ticket prices would drop tomorrow? Hmm…did I get the best deal or should I have waited a few days to buy?
Farecast can tell you this.
From Farecasts website:
Farecast.com evolved from a University of Washington research project, led by computer science professor and internet search expert Oren Etzioni, into the online travel site you see today. We spent several years developing state-of-the-art data-mining and predictive technologies with the objective of accurately predicting airfare pricing.
We use data-mining algorithms to search for patterns, in the accumulated airfare data, which are associated with significant price changes. These patterns are represented and stored in models, and the models are then rigorously trained. Once created and trained, we use these models to predict the future. Then, new, current airfares can be scored by the model to answer the question, “is the price going up or down in the future?â€
These are clever folks. You should check it out if you’re going to buy airline tickets in the future so you know when to buy
This free service already saved Justine and I around $40-$50 on our trip to Portland later this fall.
And that means another pair of shoes for Justine, so this is important stuff, people!
