God-Zee-Rah!

Posted by: Dave In: Dreams

Godzilla Last night I had a weird dream that Justine and I were running around on some sort of large industrial farm.  There was a giant lizard creature chasing a giant bird creature across the complex.  There were a bunch of people milling around, not seeming to pay much attention to the crazy Godzilla-like clash happening in front of them.  They just kept working on the farm.

We were the only ones who noticed the battle.  We ran and jumped over wire fences and hid in some tall weird-looking shrubs near a busy road.  I couldn’t figure out why the people driving by in their cars and working on the farm didn’t notice the crazy giant bird and lizard fighting back on the farm.

They were taller than the barn and smashing stuff all around us with menacing screams and squawks.

I remember being fascinated by the battle, but even more fascinated by the people around us who were not freaked out by the bloody monster battle in front of us.

Then I woke up.

Yeah, I have no idea either…

i have a pretty clear idea. alright, godzilla represents crazy-big-scary-power. when two big-ass monsters fight, alot get’s effected. so, 2 powerful entities fight, they could be goverments, whatever represents power, awe, fear..in you. while the populus(everyone but you and justine)are going about things semingly uneffected. this worries you. if you think back to your dream about seeing the shanty towns and the explosion, maybe you could find a common meaning or a common language. i htink you’re worried that the general population doesn’t care about something you see as effecting a very wide swath, dramatically.

oh, and it’s not ’cause they can’t say her/his(it?)name right, it’s different in Japan. they’ve really created a physical manifestation of their atomic fears. like why we watch horror movies, they’re cathartic. give the fear form, and it becomes a little less scary.
and i think why J J Abrams latched onto the fears of New Yorkers(Cloverfield). ahh, nothing like using people’s weaknesses to make a buck. odd, how maybe the subconcious fear of losing the american way has been shown alot lately…Independence Day. i think we maybe know we have it a bit too good, and it’s a pretty precarious.
