RSS bloat: part 2

Posted by: Dave In: Blog |Web

I wrote previously about my rss bloat of 192 subscriptions in google reader. I made the first pass at reducing that number today and came up with 132 subscriptions. This was pretty painless, trimming stale feeds (updated lass than 1/month) and anything I havn’t read in months (whether it updated or not).

My goal is to get down to less than 100. This will take some work, because I really enjoy the subscriptions that are left. These 132 feeds fall into he following categories:

apple
business
design
development
geeky
google-related
people
photography
podcasts
productivity
technology
web2.0
wordpress

I could probably get rid of the “podcasts” category and just use iTunes for that, but I like knowing when some of my favorite podcasts are released without having to start up iTunes. Gahhh…I’m torn.

There will be much gnashing of teeth durning my next round of cuts.

P.S. – I added a new weather widget to the right column because the old widget broke for some strange reason.
