These crabs are amazing! They may taste good but their populations are decreasing, although there’s not enough data to yet say they are endangered.

I’ve actually had these for a meal. Yes they are extremely meaty and twice as delishes as any crab I’ve had out of the Ocean( trust me…I’m from the Marshall Islands and I’d choose this over our abundance of lobsters any day). Yes they freak my out considering they are the size of King crab…just only on land.

Luna, according to Wikipedia, “Coconut crabs live in areas from the Indian to the central Pacific Ocean.” So you are safe in Hawaii…for now. ;-)

Coconut Crabs are not slow nor fast. But if one comes near you, watch out for their pinchers because they will not let go that easy. And it is extremely painful. The bigger, the stronger. But they do taste mighty good when you boil them in hot water with salt and coconut milk. And don’t worry, they are not toxic…lol like what bluemarlin said. They are more afraid of you than you being afraid of them. And crabs do not kill people, lol, not unless you are allergic to crabs..lol. The only thing dangerous on coconut crabs are their pinchers.

they bloody int slow moving u try running away from that their massive they have been know to kill people when their sleeping by using a toxing in their body that temperal num ur limb ect. then they have a feast althought it would be funny as hell to keep them as a pet i’d call it sally dont know why. set him on my bloody bloke next door that shut him up theirs a nother one like it just smalll
