Right vs. Left brain

Spinning Woman

This is an interesting test to determine whether or not you are predominately a right or left brain thinker.

I have no idea how accurate this visual test is, but it is pretty interesting. The dancer was spinning clockwise for me initially (right brain), but I could make it change direction easily.

Link to the test.

P.S. – Post your comment to let me know what direction the woman was spinning when you first saw her.  I’m interested in knowing what your first reaction was.

Spinning deasil until I concentrated on the central foot. Then a magical change to widdershins. Weird.

Yep, the exact thing happened to me when I looked at it. Weird.

She initially spun clockwise, but I was able to make her change direction. Very interesting!

First she was clockwise, then counterclockwise. Hm.

the central foot’s the key, it’s simular appearence looking straight ahead as it does perfectly behind, is the trick. there’s some intersting theories on right brainers and left brainers. here’s the short of it, right brainers were hunters, left brainers, farmers.

I like the hunting and farming description better than the description below the test itself. Because I’ve always considered myself good with words and language, anyway.

I started out seeing it counterclockwise, then could switch to seeing it either way, but it required a purposeful shifting of gears on my part.

My wife saw it counterclockwise to start, then it would spontaneously appear to change direction without any particular pattern.

I don’t know what that says about either one of us.

Now that I’ve read Nate’s comment, I can easily shift directions at will just by focusing briefly on the central foot.

My wife still has it happen spontaneously; that observation made no difference to her.

I can only see it spinning clockwise, and not at all counter-clockwise, even when I tried to concentrate on the center.

Sigh.

I’m sure there are more valid and accurate tests for this sort of thing, but this little visual test has been interesting.

Clockwise. Then counterclockwise.

Dr. Ding, I am not the least bit surprised.

I can make it go faster clockwise, but definitely can’t get it to go counter clockwise.

Kate, I’m pretty sure that means you’re a cyborg. Are your co-workers aware of this and have they taken precautions for your eventual uprising against humanity?

She changes feet, first saw her left then changed right, now her feet switch, from left one to right one.

Clockwise.

Until she was more in my peripheral vision, such as reading the start

If clockwise, then you use more …..

Then it’d be anti-clockwise.
