Gary Gygax

From CNN

Gary Gygax, who co-created the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons and helped start the role-playing phenomenon, died Tuesday morning at his home in Lake Geneva. He was 69.

He had been suffering from health problems for several years, including an abdominal aneurysm, said his wife, Gail Gygax.

Gary, we’ll miss you. You brought joy to the lives of countless nerds, geeks, dorks and outcasts. I’m sorry I never got a chance to meet Gary when I was at Gencon last year. Let’s hope he’s rolling dice in the sky.

P.S. – Nate sent a great D&D related clip from the fantastic Freaks & Geeks TV show from a few years ago.

P.P.S. – Also, thanks to Randy for the heads up about this today.
