Knee surgery

Posted by: Dave In: Health

The MRI photo above is of my left knee before surgery this week.  On Wednesday I underwent arthroscopic knee surgery to remove part of the damaged meniscus on my left knee.

The surgery was pretty amazing.  I was walking (ok, limping) about an hour after surgery.  However, I’ve been spending most of my time relaxing and keeping my knee elevated.

At least I’m getting some equality reading time in…

Even minor surgery is no party. Rest well and enjoy your reading time!

Feeling much better today. I hate that groggy feeling that pain pills deliver…but I like the lack of pain.

Sill walking with a limp, but feeling much better.

Also, it is EXTREMELY difficult to read a book while on pain meds. “Did I read that paragraph already?” “Oh well, I’ll just read it again.” “Yep, I did read that paragraph, but I have no idea what it said.” “Should I read it again?” “Perhaps I should just take a nap.”

I’m reading Moby Dick (stay with me, this will make sense soon…as your drugs wear off) and I’ll tell you the same thing I’d tell Melville were he standing here in all his rancid whale blubber glory…GIVE ME A DIAGRAM.

Take that image into photoshop and circle the area in question. Use arrows. And a legend. How many of us can really read an MRI anyway? Come on Herrold, you have the skills! Where’s that little piece of meniscus? Draw a little elf behind your knee with an oil can…

Where’d they inject the nanites?

  • Dave: Not sure, Bryan, but I'd love to know where Craig lives.
  • Bryan Hanks: What city were those in?

  • epiphenita: Like Tom Waits without the music.

  • Dave: I think someone should make some dance music from those "WHOAHs."
  • epiphenita: Oh, Dave. That was tonic to my soul. Perfect. I vote for an exorcism.
  • Dave: Hmm, looks sober to me.
  • Scott: I'm thinking that the guy with the hat might have had a drink or two before this picture was taken. Just a hunch...
  • Scott: There's a roleplaying scenario just waiting to be written based on these pictures. :-)

Stepping over the steaming pile of reality. This is one man's journey into the absurd.
