Evel Knievel RIP

Posted by: Dave In: Current Affairs

From the Associated Press: Evel Knievel, the red-white-and-blue-spangled motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over crazy obstacles including Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho’s Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday. He was 69. Rest in Peace, Evel. -Dave

Dick Wilson, the actor famous for portraying Mr. Whipple in Charmin commercials, has passed away at the age of 91.  From the Associated Press: Wilson made more than 500 commercials as Mr. George Whipple, a man consumed with keeping bubbly housewives from fondling toilet paper. The punch line of most spots was that Whipple himself [...]

Originally called the $100 laptop project, it came in at just under $200 each, but still a bargain when you consider all the technology involved in making something like this. In 2002, MIT Professor Nicholas Negroponte experienced first-hand how connected laptops transformed the lives of children and their families in a remote Cambodian village. A [...]

Remember that bus I spoke about last week? Well, if you’ve still got some gas in it, I’d suggest [...]

Rove resigns

Posted by: Dave In: Current Affairs

We can only hope he gets hit by a bus while leaving the White House. Normally I joke…but in this case… …if there happen to be any angry bus drivers out there… …I mean, if you believe in karma… …he’ll get stuck between the tire and the wheel well… …and be drug for a few [...]
