I’m not talking about the flash flood warnings tonight and tomorrow because of the big storm currently tapping the city on the shoulder. I’m talking about the moist air and the cool evening breezes that make me appreciate Houston every now and then. The palm trees across the street have been gently swaying in the evenings for the last few days.

The sky is turning that weird swirling khaki brown tonight to signal a whopper of a storm is coming.

Josh and Tara will be in town tomorrow night, making that long trek from New York that they tried to make a few months ago. Let’s hope mother nature is a bit nicer to them this time around.

Josh and Tara didn’t make it to Houston this weekend due to some pretty bad weather blasting the east coast at the moment. They fought the weather and the messy drive to the airport only to have the flight canceled when they were waiting at the gate. This was:

1. A pain in the ass for them.

2. An expensive trip to and from the airport.

Sorry you went through all that, guys. I promise when you finally visit Houston you won’t have to worry about snow here.

You will, however, need to bring stretchy pants and a bib for the BBQ sauce and margaritas (and probably sunglasses and some flip-flops).

I miss you both and hope we can all buy some cowboy hats together in the near future.

A very famous, bald, yellow-skinned man once said “mmmm…beeeeer” and the world embraced that fat, bald, yellow-skinned man with open arms.

Well, if you like beer (like I do) and happen to live near Asheville, North Carolina (unfortunately, I do not) you’d be a fool not to swing by Brusin’ Ales and embrace a few bottles of your favorite brew.

Pals of mine and substitute Trappist Monks, Julie and Jason Atallah have just opened up their beer-lovers paradise at 66 Broadway St across from the Mellow Mushroom in in Asheville. Justine and I hope to visit one day and sit in a kiddie pool filled with Chimay Grand Reserve.

Because…well…why wouldn’t you?

We’ve booked our trip to Portland, Oregon for the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival.
