This photo was taken at the Shippensburg Adventure Game Camp in 1982.  Are those dragons I smell?  Nope, they’re teenagers…even worse than dragons.

Shippensburg Adventure Game Camp ran in the summers of 1981 through 1985. There were two one-week sessions, each Sunday evening through Friday afternoon. I found out about it because the teacher we had convinced to sponsor the school D&D group got a flier for it when it was first organized.

Campers were divided into different gaming groups at the beginning of the week, with councilors doubling as DMs. There were morning lectures (seriously) with gaming in the afternoon. All the groups played through the same adventure, written specifically for the camp. It wasn’t an actual tournament, but each group pretty much tried to get as far as possible before the end of the week — a slightly rigged process as I found out once I became a councilor.

I never knew something like this existed when I was a teenager.  I’m sure I would have loved it.

Crush the Castle is perhaps the most addictive flash-based game since Bloxorz.

It will be extremely hard to stop once you have started, so plan your time accordingly.  (I just wasted over an hour playing it.)

You control a trebuchet and your goal is to knock down the different castles in each level and kill all the occupants.  The levels get harder the longer you play and you receive different ammunition for the trebuchet as you progress in the game.

Gary Gygax, who co-created the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons and helped start the role-playing phenomenon, died Tuesday morning at his home in Lake Geneva. He was 69.

He had been suffering from health problems for several years, including an abdominal aneurysm, said his wife, Gail Gygax.

Gary, we’ll miss you. You brought joy to the lives of countless nerds, geeks, dorks and outcasts. I’m sorry I never got a chance to meet Gary when I was at Gencon last year. Let’s hope he’s rolling dice in the sky.

This is a video game that looks fantastic. I love the Bruce Lee moves the baby uses in the very end. That is one badass baby.

Blogger Z of the Hipster Please blog recently got one of the greatest tattoos ever.  It is a line drawing of the most-hallowed 20-sided die for Dungeons and Dragons (commonly referred to as a “d20″ for those non-nerdy readers out there…if there are any.)

Kudos to you, sir.  Now back to your parents’ basement before the orcs overtake your fortifications and steal your Rod of Lordly Might.

Actually, this has nothing to do with Leomund’s Tiny Hut.

Chinese master potter Wu Ruishen (吴瑞深) has created a mini teapot weighing just 1.4 grams. The teapot was revealed on Nov 15 and is claimed to be the smallest teapot in the world.

The 73-year-old Wu is a renowned pottery and porcelain artist in China, specializes in creating teapots. His artworks can be found in various museums in China.

MasterRuishen must have very tiny hands and good eyes.
