Cloverfield (no spoilers)

Posted by: Dave In: Film|HPL

No review here…just a quick note that I watched the new JJ Abrams movie, Cloverfield, today. I have a feeling that some people will hate the ending. I also have a feeling that those people have never read H.P. Lovecraft. Nuff said. P.S. (for Scott) – I forgot to mention I give the film a [...]

Goodbye Hollywood Theater

Posted by: davidherrold In: HPL|Mobile

It’s been a great trip to Portland this year. I’m even a bit sad it’s over. The movies were interesting. The people were wonderfully weird. The company was delightful. The festival was even more fun this year because we were experiencing it with friends. Hmmm…I wonder what movies will be playing next year? – Dave

Posted by: Dave In: Film|HPL|Oregon

After the introduction to the festival from founder, Andrew Migliore and a brief chat with author, Ramsey Campbell, Robert Price gave the Lovecraftian blessing while wearing a yellow mitre adorned with strange symbols while he sported an ear-to-ear, fully-bearded grin. We all opted to catch both block one and block two of the short films.  [...]

Posted by: Dave In: Friends|HPL|Oregon|Travel|Web

It’s that time again. We’ve booked our trip to Portland, Oregon for the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival. Some friends are in tow this time around, so I’m hoping it’s even more fun than it was last year. – Dave P.S. – I stumbled on a site called TripHub that I used to log some trip [...]
