What’s that line about the one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest? Or was it the long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs? Regardless of the cheesy analogy, I’ve been slammed at work over the past few days. My boss is out of town and so is one of my designers.

Blog designs and some lunch

Posted by: Dave In: Blog| Design| Misc

OK, I think I found the design I like for the blog. It seems the only down side for this design is the print view isn’t all that pretty. I’m working to fix that with a print style sheet, but it may take a little time to get that looking good.
It’s been a [...]

El sombrero de perro

Posted by: Dave In: Misc| Photography| Weird

My, what a tiny sombrero on that dog! It took Justine and I several attempts to get this tiny hat on Queenie. It stayed on her head for nearly 3-4 seconds per attempt.
The photos above are the fruits of our labor.

Queenie

Posted by: Dave In: Misc

Queenie and I are holding down the fort here at Above the Aether World Headquarters while Justine is doing a little traveling for work. I’d like blue flames painted on the side of mine, however.
UPDATE: The evening’s festivities 2/13

How I Spent My New Year’s Eve (by Justine)

Posted by: Justine In: Misc

Hello cats and kittens!
It was a fairly quiet, lowkey evening last night.  I donned my customary ensemble of pointy-toed high heels and pajamas and sat on the couch reading Carl Hiaasen.  Later on Dave made me a blue cheese olive-stuffed vodka martini, and let me assure you that it was fantastic.  We watched some sort [...]

Houston during the holidays

Posted by: Dave In: Current Affairs| Misc

Picture, if you will, crazed and glassy-eyed throngs of holiday zombies driving gigantic SUVs and lumbering for a single narrow parking space between a Jaguar and a BMW 7 series.
Somehow, le-mum-du-football is backing up her Chevy Suburban like she has a CDL and is used to handling the big rigs. Her kids are sedated [...]

After a week or so of primping, Justine has finally declared the tree “finished.” There are more bows on this tree than in Richard Simmons’ doll collection. Seriously.

  • Joshua: Rush rules. Have you heard of the new documentary?
  • Scott: Damn, if he was DM'ing, I'd actually have to play, just for the show!
  • Nathan: Easy Strokes or Diff'rent Rider? Which sounds better?
  • Nathan: (said in robotic monotone) Indeed,I...think...this...is...pretty...great
  • Dave: I like the bit about the Bald Eagle. Hope he gets elected.
