Women in the US Senate

Posted by: Dave In: History| Political

35 women have held seats in the United States Senate since its inception.  The number of women in the Senate has more than doubled in the last 20 years.  I find it interesting that the majority of the women who have held seats in the Senate have been democrats (22 out of 35).
I’m not sure [...]

I’m not voting for Hillary Clinton

Posted by: Dave In: Political

Yes, it’s true, if Hillary ends up being the Democratic party’s front runner, I will not vote for her.
You want to know why?
I’m sick of two families monopolizing the presidency for the last 20 years.
Do I think Hillary would be a good president?  Probably.  I agree with her on most social issues.  I even think [...]

Election Day November 2007

Posted by: Dave In: Current Affairs| Political| Texas

It’s funny.  I just heard a local news organization say something to the effect of “we’re bringing to bear the most comprehensive election coverage ever in Houston.”  Blah blah, internet…blah blah…podcast…blah blah live blogging…etc, etc, etc.

Alberto Gonzales, seen here just before he snuck out the back door of the White House to chug some PBRs at a local Hooters with Rove and Rumsfeld, stepped down from the office of Attorney General.
Remember that bus I spoke about last week? Well, if you’ve still got some gas in it, I’d suggest [...]

From Treehugger:
Jerry Falwell, God’s gift to swooning teenage girls everywhere, was actually quoted calling environmentally conscious Christians “niave.” Apparently there’s a liberal conspiracy involving this whole fake global warming thing…
The whole story can be read here.
(If you stare at my photoshop monstrosity above, eventually you will join Jerry in his crusade against all [...]

Republican senator, John McCain, just announced that he feels Roe v. Wade should be overturned. You know, there was a brief period of time several years ago that I had a lot of respect for this man. Since then, he has been sprinting as fast as he can to the far right of [...]

Heidi’s wearing kevlar now

Posted by: Dave In: Blog| Political| Technology| Web

I learned this lesson the hard way a few years ago. I was sitting at my computer at home, minding my own business when I caught a virus. Like an eye-watering kick to the crotch, within seconds the virus managed to foul up my computer’s innards so thoroughly it corrupted my machine’s operating [...]
