I, Phone.

Posted by: Dave In: Communication|Gadgets|Technology

Part of me thinks the whirlwind of hype surrounding the iPhone is absolutely ridiculous. Another part of me (the nerdy, gadget-loving part) wants one anyhow. Will the iPhone revolutionize mobile communication as all of the commericals promise? Who knows. However, there are phones out today that can do all of the things the iPhone is [...]

Cellswapper

Posted by: Dave In: Gadgets|Technology

OK, this is a pretty cool service.  Do you want to get out of a cell phone contract to get that new iPhone? You can swap your cell contract with someone looking to do the same at CellSwapper. This is a genius idea.  I’m surprised someone hasn’t come up with it sooner. -Dave

In Russia, space station reboots you

Posted by: Dave In: Science|Technology

Russian-controlled computers on the international space station were rebooted today. These computers control frivolous things like oxygen and water and seem to be limping along now. Insert random Microsoft Windows joke here. Read the whole story here. -Dave

I’m not sure this will be interesting to anyone, but I felt compelled to describe my love-hate relationship with email as a form of communication in the workplace. I hate email. You see, I get around 300-500 emails every day at work. About a third of these are generated by automated server processes and are [...]

My precious part duex

Posted by: Dave In: Apple|Technology

I stayed up until midnight last night noodling around with my new laptop. Justine is usually my egg timer for when I’ve been in front of the computer too long. Most nights she wanders into the office and reminds me that I should go to bed at some point. Last night she left me to [...]

Radio controlled Daleks

This is of interest to approximately three of my friends and most likely stupid for everyone else.  Check it out: RADIO CONTROLLED DALEKS! Ok, my excitement has already subsided. -Dave

RSS bloat

Posted by: Dave In: Productivity|Web

It’s dawned on me that I can’t possibly keep up with all the RSS feeds in my Google Reader. I subscribe to 192 feeds. The refresh rate on them varies from multiple times a day (Lifehacker=16 posts per day) to maybe once a month. My account looks like someone shoved a grenade into a watermelon [...]
